Michala Sofie

authorised psychologist, M.A. in Psychology · Vesterbro, Copenhagen, and online

I offer individual therapy, couples and relationship therapy, as well as talks, teaching and professional collaborations.

Sessions can take place in person at my practice in Vesterbro, Copenhagen, or online via Whereby. I use the platform under a data processing agreement, with particular attention to confidentiality and data security.

We can begin with what currently feels important to you, whether it concerns relationships, identity, gender, the body, sexuality, life transitions, stress, grief, difficult experiences, or something that has not yet quite found its words.

Welcome

People seek therapy for many different reasons.

Some people may be navigating a difficult life situation, grief or a crisis. Others notice that certain patterns recur in their relationships, work or family life. Some are not necessarily struggling, but would like a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships or the direction their lives are taking.

You do not need to know exactly where you want to go before getting in touch. Our conversations can provide a space in which we explore what feels important to you, at a pace that makes sense for you.

Conversations may include themes such as:

  • Relationships and close connections

  • Stress, strain or exhaustion

  • Self-worth, self-criticism, or shame

  • Gender, identity, the body, or sexuality

  • Trust, boundaries and communication

  • Grief, loss or life transitions

  • Conflicts within family, intimate relationships or other meaningful relationships

  • Experiences of violence, abuse, neglect or other boundary violations

  • Feeling stuck

  • A sense that something feels difficult without quite knowing why

You do not need to fit into a particular category to contact me.

Some people come with a clear idea of what they would like to explore. Others simply feel that something is not as they would wish, without necessarily knowing why. Both can be a good starting point.

Our conversations are centred on what feels important to you. Together, we explore this at a pace that makes sense, with room for greater understanding, new perspectives and possible change.

Individual therapy

50 minutes • In person or online

Individual therapy may involve a wide range of themes and life circumstances.

Some people come with a specific concern they would like to explore. Others simply sense that something is weighing on them, without quite knowing why.

Our conversations are centred on what is important to you. Together, we explore patterns, experiences, relationships or questions that it may feel meaningful to approach with curiosity.

This may include relationships, identity, gender, the body, sexuality, stress, grief, life transitions or a sense of feeling stuck.

A therapeutic process with me may be shorter or longer. As new perspectives or needs emerge, we adjust the focus along the way.

Couples and relationship therapy

90 minutes • In person or online

Relationships can be places of profound closeness, but also of particular vulnerability.

Couples and relationship therapy may be relevant if you notice certain patterns recurring, if it has become difficult to understand one another, or if you would like a shared space in which to explore what is difficult to discuss on your own.

I work with many different forms of relationships, families and close connections. This may include romantic relationships, open or polyamorous relationships, former partners, co-parents, siblings, friends, parents and adult children, or other relationships that are significant in your lives, including relationships that are changing or coming to an end.

Conversations are centred on you, your relationship or relationships, and what feels meaningful to explore together.

Talks, Teaching and Professional Collaborations

Tailored to the context • In person or online

I offer talks, workshops and teaching for organisations, workplaces, educational institutions and professional communities.

Content is developed in dialogue with each organisation and may focus on relationships, gender, the body, sexuality, consent, psychological safety, wellbeing, communication or related themes.

I also welcome collaboration on teaching programmes, professional consultation and the development of talks, with content and format adapted to the specific context.

The aim is to create a professional space in which complexity can be explored and knowledge translated into reflection and practice.

How it works

1. Book a free initial consultation or a first therapy session

You are welcome to book a free initial consultation or a first therapy session directly through the booking system.

The initial consultation takes place online and lasts up to 15 minutes. The purpose is not to begin therapy, but to briefly discuss what you’re seeking help with and whether a therapeutic process with me makes sense for you at this time.

2. We consider whether the framework is suitable

You will have the opportunity to ask me questions about my approach and the practical arrangements. At the same time, I will consider whether my experience and way of working are relevant to what you are seeking support with.

If I assess that another form of support may be more appropriate, I will, where possible, help you identify a relevant alternative.

3. We agree on the next steps

If it seems meaningful to continue, we agree on the next steps and consider what a possible process with me might look like.

There is no single right way to engage in therapy. Some people prefer a shorter process focused on a particular concern, while others prefer a longer process with room for deeper exploration. Together, we consider the format, pace and focus that make sense for you.

Next steps

You are welcome to book a free initial consultation or a first therapy session.

You do not need to have everything put into words in advance.

The most important thing is not that you choose me, but that you find the support, setting, and therapeutic relationship that make the most sense for you.
